discover, find, detect, ascertain

　　這些動(dòng)詞均有發(fā)現(xiàn)之意。

　　discover : 普通用詞，指發(fā)現(xiàn)本來(lái)存在，但示被認(rèn)識(shí)的事物、真理或情況。

　　Recently they have discovered a comet.

　　find : 普通用詞，可指偶然發(fā)現(xiàn)，也可指經(jīng)過(guò)尋找后得到或重新獲得已失去的東西。強(qiáng)調(diào)動(dòng)作的結(jié)果。

　　I have found the lost book.

　　detect : 正式用詞，強(qiáng)調(diào)經(jīng)過(guò)周密觀察或研究而有所獲得和發(fā)現(xiàn)，尤指發(fā)現(xiàn)有意隱藏之物。

　　The sensors can also detect the presence of nuclear, chemical or biological agents.
